Services

Individual therapy

For adults who make things and want a place to think out loud about the work, the money, the people around them, or none of those.

Sessions are 50 minutes, in person in Taos or by video. You choose what to talk about. Your clinician listens, asks questions and offers ways of looking at what you describe. Sometimes that is practical, and sometimes it is only room to say a thing out loud.

What to expect

How it works, and what it is not

  • The method

Our clinicians use talk therapy: conversation, questions and reflection. In your first session, your clinician tells you how they work and what training they hold.

  • What this is not

Individual therapy is not career coaching or art critique. It is not a crisis service: if you are in crisis, call or text 988.

  • How often and how long

Your clinician sets the pace with you. There is no set number of sessions, and you can stop whenever you choose.

  • How it is paid

What you pay depends on whether you use insurance. The fees page explains each way, and we give you a fee in writing before you start.

Questions

A few questions about this service

Do I need to be a professional artist?

No. Some of our clients sell what they make, and others have never shown anything. If making things is central to your life, you are who we have in mind.

Can I bring my work to a session?

If it helps, yes. Some people bring a sketchbook or a few pages. Many bring nothing at all.

Can we meet by video?

Yes, if you are in New Mexico at the time of the session. Our clinicians are licensed here, and a license covers only the state that issued it.

Ready to ask about a first session?

Tell us how you would like to be reached. Our coordinator replies and suggests a clinician.
