Services

Couples therapy

For two adults who share a life with creative work in it, whether you work side by side or one of you does the making.

Couples sessions are 80 minutes, because both of you need time to speak. Your clinician helps you say what is hard to say at home, and listen to what the other person means. Nobody is asked to take a side.

What to expect

How it works, and what it is not

  • The method

Our clinicians use talk therapy: conversation, questions and reflection. Your clinician explains how they work in the first session.

  • What this is not

Couples therapy is not an assessment of who is right, and it is not a report for a court. It is not a crisis service: if you are in crisis, call or text 988.

  • How often and how long

You and your clinician set the pace together. There is no set number of sessions, and either of you can stop at any time.

  • How it is paid

What you pay depends on whether you use insurance. We give you a fee in writing before you start.

Questions

A few questions about this service

Do we both have to make things?

No. Some couples share a studio, and in others one person makes and the other does not. Both of you are welcome.

Can we start with one of us?

Yes. Some people begin with an individual session and bring their partner later. Tell us when you write and we will plan with you.

Will you take sides?

No. Your clinician's job is to help each of you be heard, not to decide who is right.

Ready to ask about a first session?

Tell us you would like to come as a couple and how to reach you. Our coordinator replies.
